USB3 is a high-speed interface for industrial vision cameras, making it ideal for high-resolution and high-speed image acquisition. The USB3 Vision Camera ME2P series is interesting for you when your application complies with the following conditions:

MTBF, Warranty & Product Life Cycle

Each year, Daheng Imaging produces more than 100.000 industrial cameras according to the highest quality standards. The mean time between failure (MTBF) is more than 400.000 hours (45 years, 24/7). The industrial cameras are certified by TÜV Rheinland and have a 5-year warranty. After market introduction, every camera model is available for at least 7 years. Monochrome Polarization Camera

The ME2P-1231-32U3M-POL is a monochrome polarization camera based on the Sony IMX253MZR sensor, capable of capturing images of four different polarization directions simultaneously.

Polarization cameras are particularly suitable for inspecting reflective and transparent surfaces such as glass, metal, and plastic, which are difficult to inspect using standard monochrome or color cameras. Polarization imaging enhances contrast and reveals surface characteristics, stress patterns, and material differences that are otherwise difficult to detect. With I/O (Hardware Trigger & Digital I/O)

The I/O connector from a USB camera is an 8 pin HR25 Hirose connector, which is standard in the industrial machine vision market. This camera has an input that can be used as a hardware trigger for the device. The output of the camera can be used to trigger a light source, for example: LED. Furthermore, the camera has two GPIO’s (General Purpose Input/ Output) which can be programmed by using our SDK. The electrical diagrams to use the I/O connector are provided in the manual.

Sony IMX253MZR Polarization Image Sensor

This polarization camera uses the Sony IMX253MZR image sensor, featuring a pixel size of 3.45μm and a total resolution of 12.3 megapixels (4096 x 3000). The sensor integrates a four-directional polarization filter directly on the photodiodes.

This design enables the camera to capture four polarization angles in a single exposure, allowing the calculation of polarization angle and direction based on the intensity measured at each polarization orientation.

The polarization filter is arranged in a 2x2 pixel pattern, where each pixel is covered by micro-polarizer with a different orientation. When polarized light reaches the sensor, only the light component perpendicular to the filter orientation passes through each pixel, enabling accurate polarization analysis in one shot. 

Polarization filter angles

Summarized, the polarization filter characteristics are:

-          When the filter blocks light at a 90º angle, it passes 0º through the filter.

-          When it blocks light at a 45º angle it passes 135º through the filter.

-          When it blocks light at an 135º angle it passes through 45º the filter.

-          Finally, when it blocks lights at an 0º angle it passes light through a 90º angle.
